Chantelle’s origin dates to 1876, when Mr. Gamichon made the first elastic knits in his Romily factory that’s to the discovery of the rubber vulcanization process. He and his nephew, the first representative of the Kretz family quickly joined forces. The Kretz family still manages the international Chantelle brand lingerie today.
In 1902, the company started its corset making activity which revolutionized the market with designs made from elastic fabric. The company changed its name to Chantelle in 1949 when the company established itself as a reference brand of body shaping with its historical slogan “Chantelle, the girdle that does not creep.”
The first bras were produced in 1961 and 1962 in Chantelle's first subsidiary located in Germany. This marked the beginning of the great love affair with women all over the world. Innovation and success followed.
In 1970, the Fete Model bra became a significant success of the times, selling over one million units within the year. In 1972, the first molded bra was launched under the name Defi. In 1982, Les Cheris brought the promise of a new seductive style and in 1986, the line of Veritge met with astounding success.
In 1993, Chantelle opened its doors in the US and became the ambassador for French elegance for US women.
Chantelle has been continuing to expand throughout the world bringing multiple innovations and creating successful products including Senso, Chantilly, Hedona, and Africa.
As the number one brand of French lingerie Chantelle has continued to become an expert in creating seductive styles within women’s intimate apparel and figure enhancement. In celebration of the brands success in 2007 Chantelle has opened its first “Chantelle Paris” boutiques based on the highly innovative concept.
